As you may probably heard already, Digg removed its top users list this morning. They said it’s because of increasing rumours about top diggers being paid to promote certain sites to the front page.
This morning, Darren Rowse put a question on his blog:
“This will cause a big stir among some digg users (especially those who have built quite a reputation on digg) – but what do you think its impact will be?”
The impact was that an enthusiastic programmer, Cristopher Finke brought back the top 100 Digg users list and he promises that it would be updated twice a day.
I’m not sure that top diggers will be satisfied with this solution, because they see Digg as an online game, with rules, levels, and points, but at least they can see where they stand. It is interesting if their interest in digg is going to collapse during the following days, and what would be diggs evolution under these circumstances.
